CHICAGO — June 1, 2017 — Product Development Technologies (PDT), a global, full-service product development firm, is proud to announce that the Array of Things collaborative project has been recognized by the Industrial Designers Society of America's International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA).
The Array of Things has been named as a prestigious IDEA Award Finalist in IDSA's 2017 competition. The International Design Excellence Awards is a premier international design competition judged by renowned design experts from around the world.
Joined by a number of companies and institutions in the Chicago area, PDT has worked alongside Charlie Catlett, Argonne National Laboratory, the University of Chicago, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and more to bring the Array of Things to life. The team's efforts have resulted in an urban sensing project, a network of interactive, modular sensor boxes that will be installed around Chicago to collect real-time data on the city's environment, infrastructure and activity for research and public use. The nodes measure livability factors, including climate, air quality and noise.
