Learning Resources turned to PDT to develop a new product idea to provide teachers with the ability to track the time students spend with a hall pass. PDT's team created a solution that was appropriate for the market with fun and child friendly aesthetics. Time Tracker Tag’s design allows the student to carry it in his pocket, a hand or hang from his wrist. The space saving design requires a minimal amount of desk area which can be a premium for most teachers, while its angled display allows teachers to quickly view the timer without interrupting their lesson. The color coded tracker tags, base and display visually distinguish where the tags should be returned into the cradle; additionally, the tag’s shape requires that it be returned in the correct spot, ensuring the correct time is logged. In the end, PDT provided tool-ready data to Learning Resources that was subsequently delivered to their vendors in China for manufacturing. Time Tracker Tags not only allow teachers to effectively manage their busy classroom but also encourage independence and accountability from the students.
