tvCompass turned to PDT to help refresh their current universal Wi-Fi remote handset and charging cradle with improved aesthetics and functionality. The team’s focus was to create a cleaner, more organized arrangement of keys, a smaller footprint to feel less bulky in the hand and a design with better tactile feel on keys. This was to be accomplished while still utilizing the same 2.2" display, user interface, and basic electrical architecture of the existing product. The team worked closely with tvCompass to implement a cleaner, more efficient button layout with new ESPN graphics and reorganized navigation. A user replaceable battery was integrated into the design. PDT’s prototyping team built functional models and production quality appearance models for testing and display at trade shows. The team continued to work closely with tvCompass' various vendors and supported their marketing group and packaging supplier as they prepared the ESPN remote for its successful market launch.
