Motorola needed to deliver their innovative new T720i cellular phone with its detachable digital camera to the market as soon as possible. Due to Motorola's time-compressed schedule, PDT was challenged to complete the engineering and tooling phase of the new camera as efficiently as possible. The design, which included a difficult forming operation on a metal escutcheon, was completed with supplied industrial design in four short weeks. At the last minute, Motorola decided to put a switch in place to flip the image on the camera. PDT responded to this with a two day robust design with a Hall Effect sensor. PDT stayed involved in the development cycle by sourcing, expediting suppliers, quoting, and releasing for tooling for a four week tool. With PDT's assistance, Motorola's new phone with its revolutionary digital camera went from industrial design to production (including testing) in an amazing twelve weeks.
