PDT Work for Clients Awarded Good Design Awards

PDT's twenty-year tradition of award-winning work continues

LAKE ZURICH, IL — April 13, 2018 — PDT’s work has been honored in the GOOD DESIGN Awards, organized by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in cooperation with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. The Array of Things program, a Chicago collaborative project to develop an urban open-data sensor system, was honored, as well as the Leitz iLam Home Office Laminators.

Founded in 1950, the GOOD DESIGN Awards program is the oldest and most prestigious Global Awards Program for Design Excellence and Design Innovation. The jury met in New York and San Francisco in October, where they selected product designs and graphics from over 46 nations they deemed worthy of the GOOD DESIGN Award.

“We’re proud to be honored in the GOOD DESIGN Awards once again,” said Gilberto Cavada, Design Director for PDT, an Astronics Company. “We work hard every day to deliver innovative solutions for our clients and receiving this type of recognition verifies our work is fueling market success for them.”

All winning designs will now be part of the Museum’s prestigious Permanent Design Collection.

Array of Things:

Array of Things is an urban sensing project, a network of interactive, modular sensor boxes that are being installed around Chicago to collect real-time data on the City’s environment, infrastructure and activity for research and public use. Essentially, it’s a ‘fitness tracker’ for the city that measures livability factors. Chicago will strategically install 500 nodes on streetlights around the city.

Leitz iLam Home Office Laminators:

Leitz’s iLAM Home Office Laminator is a highly versatile solution for business or personal use within the home setting. Designed with the user and setting in mind, the laminator design is compact, with high performance features at a great value. It warms up in only three minutes, and laminates pouches up to 125 microns thick.  In addition to the versatile design, the Home Office Laminator is available in four vibrant colors that end users can choose from to match their unique style or interior color scheme.
